Choosing a Tattoo

I’d like to say a quick something about choosing your tattoos. When I see people looking through my portfolio or other books, its not uncommon for them to see someone else’s tattoo and say “Oh, I want that one.” They don’t want to change it or anything, they just want the same exact thing that someone else already has. Tattoos are, or at least should be, a very personal thing. Chances are that if you see someone else’s tattoo and it looks to be a very original idea, it probably is and has some meaning to that person. Just copying someone else’s idea so that you can say that you have a cool tattoo is not cool at all. If you don’t know what you want, then you don’t want anything. When an idea hits you and its right, you’ll know it. It seems that people are in more of a hurry to get their ink than they are to plan it. This shit is forever, so stop copying everyone else and come up with an idea thats right for YOU, not someone else. And don’t worry about drawing it. You just come up with the idea. Its the artists job to bring it to life.
